Snooker is a cue sport that is typically played on a rectangular table covered with a green baize cloth, with six pockets, one at each corner and one in the middle of each long side. The game is played with 22 balls, consisting of one white cue ball, 15 red balls, and six coloured balls.

The objective of the game is to score points by potting balls in the pockets. Each ball has a point value: the red balls are worth one point each, while the coloured balls are worth between two and seven points depending on their colour. Players take turns to pot balls, starting with a red ball, and then alternating between reds and colours until all of the balls have been potted.

Players must use the white cue ball to hit the other balls, and must aim to hit the ball with the lowest point value first. If a player fails to pot a ball, or commits a foul, their opponent gains the opportunity to take their turn. Fouls can include potting the cue ball, failing to hit any ball, or hitting the wrong ball first.

The game is won by the player who scores the most points at the end of a predetermined number of frames. A frame is complete when all of the balls have been potted, or when both players agree to end it early.
