As the patrons of The Bog & Brush continued to swap rumours and gossip about the news anchors at GB Views, Scott, the busy bartender, was working hard to keep up with their drink orders.
"Can I get a pint of ale and a gin and tonic?" asked one patron.
"Coming right up," replied Scott, as he fumbled with the taps and reached for the gin bottle.
As he worked, Scott couldn't help but overhear the occasional snippet of conversation from the patrons. He was an excellent conversationalist, with a quirky sense of humour, and he loved to join in on the gossip. But there was just one problem: he had a rubbish memory when it came to drink orders.
"I heard that Steve Dixen got arrested on his way to work," said one patron, as Scott struggled to remember the recipe for a martini.
"Arrested for what?" asked another patron.
"No idea," replied the first patron. "But you know how those news people are. Always up to something."
Scott grinned and nodded along, eager to be a part of the conversation. But as he turned back to the bar, he couldn't for the life of him remember whether the gin went before or after the tonic.
It was just another busy night for Scott, with the patrons of The Bog & Brush chatting away and the rumours and gossip flying fast and furious.
And though he might not remember the details of the latest news anchor scandal or the ingredients of a Long Island Iced Tea, he knew one thing for sure: he was having a blast at the busiest bar in town.
